REVIEW & SWATCHES - MUA VS MAKEUP REVOLUTION HIGHLIGHTERS !!!

Highlighters!!  too much in these days no? The hype of highlighters is on its peak. They come in various different forms ranging from powder,mineral based, liquid to cream finishes. All cater to different needs and purposes. Every type is in demand no doubt. Today i am here to do a review/comparison between two brands in one post. I personally think sometimes we dont realise few things or skip right through them while buying various brands. As a blogger we hoarders tend to accumulate a lot over the time for various reasons and if we can skip it so can others !! So lets jump right into the review/ comparison shall we ...

2) " MAKEUP REVOLUTION "


NAMES-

1) MUA UNDRESS YOUR SKIN SHIMMER HIGHLIGHTERS
2) MAKEUP REVOLUTION VIVID BAKED HIGHLIGHTERS

PACKAGING-

1) MUA comes in a white base and clear lid compact packaging. Its travel friendly as the lid closes real tight and you don't need to worry about it. I would not say its sturdy as it doesn't seem to be a sturdy packaging.

2) MAKEUP REVOLUTION it comes in black base and clear lid compact. Though the lid is not flat. This doesn't seem sturdy either. Due to a slightly high top it might take a little more space and won't be really compact.

Comparison- Well MUA seems more travel friendly as compared to Makeup revolution. For me both are exactly the same with slight change with their lids. But i think MUA have better packaging that is the lid doesn't open that easily. I would definitely recommend MUA ones over Makeup Revolution for travelling.

PRODUCT-

1) MUA comes with 7.5g product.
2) MAKEUP REVOLUTION comes with 7.5g product too.

Comparison- Both comes with equal product.

PRICE-

1) MUA  4 pounds each
2) Makeup Revolution  4 pounds each

Comparison- Surprisingly both of them cost the same i.e. 4 pounds which is almost RS 850/- each

SHADES-

These both brands come in three shades. They're by no means matte. I have two to show you and for comparison:

1) MUA

• Iridescent Gold- Its a light vanilla gold shade. 
• Pink Shimmer- Its a pinkish skin colour. When you swatch it; it comes out to be more of a lilac colour.

2) MAKEUP REVOLUTION

• Golden Lights- Its vanilla gold shade.
• Peach Lights- Its in no means peach. It looks like a light skin colour with hints of peachy undertone. If you swatch it it comes out lilac.

Comparison- Here the fun thing. I had MUA highlighters initially but when Makeup Revolution came out with their highlighters i got these two. I had no idea that they are the exact same colour. There's no difference between the two brands and they are exactly the same colour.

TEXTURE-

1) MUA - umm its not chalky but at the same time not smooth or buttery.
2) MAKEUP REVOLUTION - Its a little smooth (like 1.5 out of 5 if i have to rate). Not at all chalky.

Comparison- In terms of texture i'll say Makeup Revolution highlighters are more smooth as compared to MUA ones. The texture get a lot more smoother when used wet (for both the brands).

 PIGMENTATION-

1) MUA - Highly pigmented.
2) MAKEUP REVOLUTION - Highly pigmented.

Comparison- Both are highly pigmented. No such difference in colour payoff. Exactly same texture when applied.

Dry Swatches

APPLICATION-

Slightly dust it on the top of your cheek bones, bridge of your nose, on your cupid's bow and little bit on the chin with a fan brush.
They both can be used either wet or dry. The gold colours for both the brands get a little more intensified when used wet but lilac ones stay the same. They're originally so pigmented that using them wet doesn't really makes a big/huge difference.

FINAL VERDICT- 

Well i would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a decently priced highlighters but at the same time of good quality. They are easy to find and use. Go a little light handed with these if you don't like intense highlighting. You seriously don't have to get both the brands as they're exactly the same size,colour and texture. If you want to know which one you should so i'll recommend going for MUA ones as they're more travel friendly and easy to store. Don't get me wrong Makeup Revolution highlighters are equally great, its just the lid i am not comfortable with because sometimes they're loose. If you're a beginner these are great option to build up your makeup collection and test out new products.
