Hello my Lovelies!!
I guess i am the last person on this earth to know about "MAYBELLINE CREAMY MATTE LIPSTICKS" !!! What was i doing ? Living under a rock maybe. Anyway let me actually start with the review...
I know and totally understand the fact that one cannot always go and buy those high end products, specifically lipsticks, which are going to last us maybe for 2 months if used regularly. I even asked you all if you would like to see more drugstore reviews or high end; and as per the guess majority wanted drugstore. So i thought its perfect to review these lipsticks as they're drugstore, easily available and most importantly they're from the permanent line.
I heard about them a couple of months back but never thought of actually trying them out. I am actually that kind of a person who would want her lipstick to last longer and at the same time being comfortable in wearing it. Many brands claim their lipsticks to be very comfortable, long lasting and easy to wear but majority have actually failed to work for me. This makes me always be on a hunt to find the best formulated lipstick in the market.
Maybelline is a pretty well-known brand and it won't be wrong to say that almost everyone of us has tried/owned one product or another from its product line. Maybelline has made its spot in the makeup world quiet well and no doubt it has provided us with quality products time to time. This brand is not only affordable but has a wide variety to offer to its customers. Maybelline is known for its mascaras, lipsticks, balms, cream shadows, kohls and quads only due to the quality it provides. In short its a well trusted and reliable brand in the market.
I bought two shades :
1) Divine Wine - A true raspberry shade with reddish brown undertone, making it appear more of a pinkish red. This shade will be complimenting every skin tone for sure.
2) Touch of Spice - Its a perfect Kylie Jenner lip shade for NC 20- 30 . Its a nude with strong pink -mauve undertone; which makes it appear more of a mauve nude. It will be a beautiful nude shade for darker skin tones and a perfect rosy pink-mauve shade for lighter skin tones. You can see me wearing this shade in this post Here (i am NC-20).
They both costed me Rs 980/- each. These come in 20 different shades. They range from nudes, to pinks, leaning more towards sparkling loud reds to lastly berry shades. This line of creamy mattes contain a lot of shades which are great for Asian skin tones. In short there is a shade for everyone in this line.
The packaging is just like other Maybelline lipsticks( for e.g. "Maybelline Buffs" ); it has a frosted top of greyish purple colour and comes in a tall rectangular shape. They do have a strong scent to them but its different than the usual scents as in its not vanilla or a plastic scent which most of the lipsticks tend to have but something unique. Its strong when you start applying the lipstick on your lips but it fades away once applied.
Now coming on the lipsticks specifically, their texture is "incredible". From the word MATTE the first thing that comes in our mind is drying formula, making the fine lines more prominent, not at all hydrating and making the lips uncomfortable; Whereas, these are totally different.
These lipsticks are very easy to apply. They glide on perfectly and aren't patchy at all. They are very hydrating on the lips and keep them moisturised throughout the day. For the lasting power i would say they last for good 6-7 hours without eating or drinking. They do leave a slight tint to the lips when wearing off. They don't disappear in patches like most of the lipsticks do. It will fade but evenly and won't leave a lip liner effect after it fades. This is a plus for me as lipsticks usually don't last on me for long and fade in an uneven manner. If you by any chance have a very oily or a greasy food while wearing them so it will get off but again the slight tint it leaves behind helps in avoiding that patchy fading and lip liner effect. You can use a lip liner underneath if lipsticks bleed on you a lot or you like a more smoother base but i guess you won't be requiring one as they don't bleed (specifically the darker shades) or apply unevenly at all.
These are very pigmented lipsticks you won't have to apply them 10 thousand times to get the colour as in the tube. These lipsticks are the best drugstore lipsticks i have ever come across. I'll definitely recommend everyone to at least try them out !
Pros-
1) Very hydrating and moisturising on lips.
2) Easily available.
3) Good price tag.
4) 20 different shades to choose from.
5) Even application.
6) Good pigmentation.
7) Fair lasting power for a drugstore lipstick.
Cons-
1) A very strong scent.
2) Not locally available.
Final Verdict
These lipsticks are perfect for everyday wear or for any occasion. These are great for anyone who has been longing to try matte lipsticks without drying their lips out. They're great for the beginners and every age group. The price tag makes them a great deal and bargain for people who are reluctant to invest in higher end lipsticks but want to try good quality product.
